In a highly anticipated sequel to last semester’s ultimate frisbee game, students from nearby St. Thomas More College of Liberal Arts (TMC) returned to Thomas Aquinas College, New England, on Saturday to face off in an intense game of soccer.

Members of Team TAC broke out their cleats for the first time in months and made their way to the athletic field, with a good turnout of students and faculty (with kids) to watch the match unfold. After a brief warm up, the game began, with Team TMC in possession of the ball. But after only a few minutes, an epic shot by Garshone John (’25), with assistance from Claire Howard (’26), put TAC in the lead. TMC ensured that lead did not grow, however, strengthening its defense for the remainder of the first half, which ended at 1-0, TAC.

As the second half began, the spectators amped up their cheering, screaming loudly for their teams. In the first minute, John scored again, much to the glee of the gathered TAC students. When more scoring brought the score to 4-0, Team TMC knew it had to step up its game. Despite a late goal, however, the players could not catch up before the clock expired, with a final score of 4-1, TAC.

Both teams thanked each other for a great game, and then headed to Gould Commons for dinner. Students from both schools mingled inside and out after dinner, before TMC had to make the trip home to New Hampshire.

“It was really exciting,” said Elizabeth Lind (’25). “I liked that we got to play against another school, since it was great to see the whole school united in cheering for our team.”
