Thomas Aquinas College is unique among American colleges and universities, offering a faithfully Catholic education comprised entirely of the Great Books and classroom discussions.
Truth, and nothing less, sets men free; and because truth is both natural and supernatural, the College’s curriculum aims at both natural and divine wisdom.
The intellectual tradition and moral teachings of the Catholic Church infuse the whole life of Thomas Aquinas College, illuminating the curriculum and the community alike.
Do you enjoy grappling with complex questions? Are you willing to engage in discussions about difficult concepts, with the truth as your ultimate goal?
There is always something to do at TAC — something worthwhile, something fulfilling, and something geared toward ever-greater spiritual and intellectual growth.
Saturday morning dawned cool and crisp, and students woke up refreshed after what had been an unforgettable Friday evening. After morning Mass and a hearty breakfast, most of the ladies, both prefects and attendees, enjoyed some thrift shopping in nearby towns.
Meanwhile, the men gathered in Meany Gymnasium for an involved 3-on-3 basketball tournament.
After a full morning, the group devoured a barbeque lunch of hotdogs and sausages on the lawn in front of Gould Commons. Then it was time for the day’s second sports tournament—volleyball.
Summer Program prefects captained teams of attendees who faced off on several different courts, and the more successful groups made their way through a large double-elimination bracket. In the end, a team led by prefects Martin McCann (’16) and Helen Blain (’20) emerged victorious.

As the contest began wrapping up, the programmers made their way down Main Street in small groups for a trip to the Northfield Creamie, a seasonal ice cream shop which boasts dozens of classic New England flavors and is a favorite spot for students at the College.
A delicious kielbasa dinner followed in Gould Commons. Then it was off to the Olivia Music Hall auditorium for the much-anticipated Open-Mic Night! A spellbound audience was treated to songs on the piano, harp, bagpipes, and many other instruments. There were also a few hilarious stand-up comedy acts, as well as many other performances. Everyone enjoyed the event, and it was impressive to see all of the hidden talents among the programmers!
Then to cap off the night, students engaged in a campus-wide game of “Clue.” Prefect Paul Habsburg (’24) posed as “Archduke Ferdinand,” the unfortunate victim of “Pocket Protector Pete,” AKA prefect Jonahs Chavez (’22). Attendees deciphered different clues which led them around campus and eventually helped them to solve the murder mystery. The fun went far into the night, and in the end everyone returned to their residence for a good night’s sleep.
Today features many more fun campus activities, as well as an outdoor dinner, so be sure to check back tomorrow for photos and all the latest details!
