Basketball season came to a dramatic close on the New England campus last weekend, with spectators sitting on the edge of their seats.

The opposing teams were Black, headed up by Dylan Peterson (’27) and White, led by Bennett Monahan (’27). Both teams boasted a star-studded lineup of some of the best players on campus, including Lucas Porto (’25), Gabe Cecchi (’28), Matthew Bohrer (’26), and Dr. Steven Shivone, assistant dean of the New England campus.

Support for the two teams was evenly split among the spectators, but Team Black definitely had the most enthusiastic fans cheering them on. “Everybody loves Dylan, that’s what it is,” laughed Gianna Kelly (’27). “He’s the media darling of this campus.”

The game began with a bang as Team Black made the first basket. Not to be outdone, Team White immediately scored one of its own. By the end of the first half, the score was tied at 26–26. The close competition only fueled the competitive spirit! Although the second half began with the two teams tied, Team Black started pulling ahead, scoring points so fast that Team White struggled to keep up. The game ended with Team Black as the victors and a final score of 52–36.

“Now that was a suspenseful game!” said Brendan Seeley (’27). “I really didn’t know who would win until the very end. Everyone played their best and had a great time!”
