To mark the completion of the first week of classes at TAC-New England, prefects treated students to celebratory root-beer floats on the Gould Lawn.

As classes let out on Friday afternoon, prefects started scooping generous servings of ice cream into cups of root beer. “I had no idea this was happening,” said Liesl Johnson (’28). “It’s such a fun way to finish the week!”

While they waited for their frosty floats, students chatted about their favorite parts of new semester. For some, it was a specific class or seminar, for others it was an exciting idea they had grappled with in section. “I had never thought so hard about signs in all my life until language class,” laughed Rose Sladky (’28).

There was no shortage of ice cream or camaraderie, so many students went back for seconds while others headed down the hill for some volleyball. “It’s going to be a really great year,” said head women’s prefect Dominique Huckins (’25) as she poured root beer. “I’m so excited for all of it!”
