On Saturday night the sophomores of Thomas Aquinas College, New England, took their turn welcoming members of the Freshman Class, hosting a Boston Tea Party-themed dance. The Sophomores decorated Tracy Student Center with patriotic colors and provided plenty of tea for refreshments. “Last dance we were brought to California,” said freshman Sam Peterson. “So traveling back in time, while staying on the East Coast, was a good twist.”

Before the freshmen cut loose on the dance floor, the Sophomore Class performed a comedic skit about various beverages — from tea to coffee to kombucha — and their stereotypical drinkers, showcasing a hilarious division between the British and American cultures. “I loved the skit so much,” shared freshman Mary Wassell. “I was a bit disappointed we didn’t get to try the kombucha or coffee.”

The last of the year’s three welcoming dance, Saturday’s soiree allowed upper- and underclassmen to come to know each other better. “We see each other every day, but don’t really know the freshmen’s names well,” observed sophomore Lucy Stoutz. “The dance helped me to grow closer to them.”
