St. Joseph's Day

On the feast day of St. Joseph, the men at Thomas Aquinas College, New England, broke bread together at a special dinner in honor of the head of the Holy Family.

The dinner was originally the idea of prefects Nicholas Temple (’27) and Pedro Da Silva (’25). Hosted on the sun-filled back porch of St. Joseph’s Hall, the event had an atmosphere of joy. “I thought it was fitting to host the dinner here, given the beautiful space and the name of the dorm,” recalled Nicholas Temple (’27). “The dinner brought the guys together and really fostered a spirit of camaraderie among us.”

The students, joined by the chaplains, took part in courses of charcuterie boards, pizza, and zeppoles, a traditional Italian pastry customarily eaten on St. Joseph’s feast day. There was much cheer and laughter over the dinner table. Some students even brought their musical instruments and had an impromptu folk and country-music jam session. After dinner, the men headed over to the Our Mother of Perpetual Help Chapel and held a candlelit solemn vespers in honor of St. Joseph.

“The event was really wholesome,” said Pedro Da Silva (‘25). “It reminded me about the verse in the Psalms, ‘How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!’”
