Donna Florence ConnA dear friend and benefactor of Thomas Aquinas, Donna Florence Conn — wife of deceased College governor Walter Conn — died peacefully at her home on March 16.

Mrs. Conn was a woman of broad interests and gifts, particularly for language, having worked as a translator in the late 1960s in Germany, where her husband was stationed by the Army, and studied Mandarin at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. In addition, she was avid equestrian and world traveler.

Together with her husband, Mrs. Conn was a faithful friend of Thomas Aquinas College over many years. Not only did she generously support the College’s financial aid fund, she also “gave” it a chaplain. Her brother-in-law, Rev. Thomas Conn, S.J., was living in East Los Angeles in the early 1990s and looking for a worthwhile apostolate in the area. Knowing his desire, Mrs. Conn suggested that he consider coming to the College. Thanks to her thoughtful suggestion, Fr. Conn became a chaplain beloved of the students, some of whom ministered to him in his final illness in 1997.

For her generosity, may God richly reward Mrs. Conn. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace.
