“Life here is very special in this small community that is centered around faith and seeking the truth,” remarks Irene Collins (NE’23), who will serve as head women’s prefect at this year’s New England Summer Program. “It’s very exciting to show that life to people.”

After working both of the College’s Summer Programs last year, Irene is looking forward to making new memories this summer on the New England campus, especially on the Connecticut River. “My favorite thing last year was kayaking. We went down to a spot on the river and we had this amazing barbecue,” she reminisces. “Just being out here in New England and showing people the scenery is so fun.” Irene is also an avid swimmer, and she can’t wait to play some “intense games of water polo” during the two weeks.

Irene knows that the Summer Program is often a pivotal experience for attendees, but she counsels them to stay attuned to God’s will. “Pray about how God is going to guide your life when you make this college decision,” she advises. “Be open to how that plan will help you to grow in unexpected ways.”

When Irene is not having the time of her life at the summer program, she will be enjoying her family in Southern California, reading, spending time at the beach, and — of course —swimming.
