Angela Díaz-Bonilla (’24)Angela Díaz-Bonilla (’24), a rising sophomore from Vienna, Virginia, will be a High School Program prefect for the first time this summer, although she attended the program when she was a high school student. “It was a whole new world, intellectually speaking, and the Socratic Method of discussion took my understanding of the books to another level,” she recalls. “I left every class with a deeper understanding of the readings, greater respect for my classmates, and infinitely more questions.”

The Summer Program, she adds, is a great opportunity for students to discern whether they should spend their next four years at TAC. “If you are trying to decide if Thomas Aquinas is for you, take advantage of the classes,” she counsels. “The most important thing is that you fall in love with the Great Books and the Discussion Method.”

Of course, the program also provides ample opportunity for recreation and fellowship. “My favorite memory was our trip to Santa Barbara when we went to the beach,” Angela says. She looks forward to introducing this year’s attendees to this and the many other delights of TAC, California, as well as spending time with her fellow prefects. Until then, she’s enjoying time making memories with her family in Virginia and finishing up some art commissions.
