Video: Thomas Aquinas College Welcomes Dr. and Mrs. Onyekuru
At lunch today in St. Joseph Commons, members of the Thomas Aquinas College community warmly welcomed to campus Dr. and Mrs. John Onyekuru, parents of soon-to-be-graduating senior Nnadozie:
Since arriving on the College’s California campus as a freshman in 2013, Mr. Onyekuru has not been able to return to his home in Nigeria. As such, prior to last night, he had not seen his family in four years. His classmates, therefore, were determined to bring his parents here for his graduation. Last November, they launched a fund-raising web page, and — reflecting how beloved Nnadozie is on campus — in no time at all they raised the funds for two round-trip tickets from Nigeria to Los Angeles. Below is a photo of their reunion last night at Los Angeles International Airport:
Last month seniors Aaron Langley and Emily Sanchez surprised Nnadozie with the exciting news that his parents would be here to see him graduate at Commencement 2017. Video of that announcement is available in the player below:
