Offering the first of many farewells to Thomas Aquinas College’s Senior Class, the California Class of 2027 served up sunshine, smiles, and poached eggs at this Sunday’s Sophomore-Senior Brunch. The sophomores spared no effort in giving the seniors a lavish send-off, decking St. Gladys Patio with flowers and paper lanterns and heaping tables with hot breakfast food.

The seniors and sophomores mingled at tables, dressed in their Sunday best, sipping on coffee and hand-squeezed orange juice and enjoying a feast of eggs benedict, French toast croissants, and berries. After savoring a hearty and happy meal together, the students took turns toasting one another, speaking heartfelt words about siblings, mentors, coworkers, and friends.

In their toasts, sophomores and seniors alike expressed their admiration for each other and their gratitude for the last two years spent together. For the sophomores, it was a chance to send off the seniors with love. Offering the final toast, sophomore Aubrey Zwibel (’27) raised her glass to all the seniors on behalf of her class. “Every one of the seniors has a special light and special talent, and this campus would be a better place if we could keep them here,” she said. “But, if they were all on campus and not in the world, the world would miss out on their light. I’ll always be grateful that I got to witness their goodness for two years.”
