The New England Class of 2025 said “aloha’’ to the Class of 2028 on Saturday with a Hawaiian-themed welcome dance!

Following the example set by the Class of 2024, the seniors hosted the dance outside on the tennis courts beside Gould Hall. Seniors strung up lights for a twinkling, starlit ambiance, inflated pool floats and beach balls for a coastal feel, and prepped plenty of virgin pina coladas for their tropical extravaganza. “I love this year’s freshmen,” said Claire Quackenbush (’25). “They’re a great class!”

Freshmen started arriving just as setup was complete, running down the hill, excited for their very first TAC dance. Once all had arrived, the seniors unveiled their much-anticipated entertainment: a video in the style of The Office about students ‘’running’’ for class speaker. Everyone laughed at the hilarious caricatures of the seniors’ personalities in the sketch, which starred Ian Talty, Michael Dolcetti, Sam Peterson, and Claire Quackenbush.

Just when the Class of 2028 thought the entertainment was over, the seniors played a video that their own class had made as freshmen, a tongue-in-cheek parody of “Take on Me” about section dynamics at the College. Cheers and applause echoed off the sides of the tennis court as the video ended and dancing began. “Dancing is just so much fun!” gushed Noelle Carpanzano (’28).

In between dances, students snacked on tropical fruit platters, Hawaiian-inspired sliders, coconut macaroons, and strawberry punch. As the sun set, seniors lit tiki torches along the edge of the court. “I almost feel like I’m in Hawaii,” remarked Michael Simia (’25). Beach balls flew across the dance floor and some students even danced while wearing pool floats. “I’m so glad we chose this theme,” said Suzie Pfeiffer (’25). “It’s been a huge success,”
