“I’ve always loved building community and connecting people,” says Gabriella Montgomery, who recently joined Thomas Aquinas College, California, as its new college and career advisor. In her new role, Miss Montgomery will channel her love for community into connecting students with career opportunities, offering guidance and resources as they plan for their futures.

“I’m looking forward to helping TAC students as they take what they have learned here into the greater world, sharing all that beauty, light, and grace with others.”

“I’m excited to work with upper- and underclassmen, encouraging them to take advantage of all the opportunities here to grow professionally and personally,” she says. She also looks forward to working with alumni, noting, “I’m hoping to utilize the alumni network as a way for students to be mentored and make connections, which will help them discern what they may want to do after graduation.”

A native Californian, Miss Montgomery grew up in the Los Angeles area, not far from the College’s California campus, but, despite friendships with alumni, she never visited before applying for her current position. When she arrived for her interview, she was struck by the College’s beauty and culture. “When I came on campus, I thought, ‘This is a dream!’” she remembers. “It’s a special place. I prayed about becoming a part of this community, and the Lord said, ‘This is where I want you.’”

For her own undergraduate studies, Miss Montgomery attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in classics and spent five months studying in Rome at the Angelicum through the Thomistic Institute. It was there that she discovered a deeper love for classical philosophy and theology.

“I had encountered Aquinas, Augustine, and the Church Fathers before, but never in a formal way in the classroom,” says Miss Montgomery. “That experience sparked my interest in the classical curriculum and the intellectual life of the Church.” At Thomas Aquinas College, she has found a place that shares both her love for community and the intellectual life.

As a career advisor, Miss Montgomery hopes to serve the evangelical mission of the Church by helping TAC students thrive in the professional world, bringing Christ and His good news with them. “The College offers something unique and special in the way it forms its students,” she reflects. “I’m looking forward to helping TAC students as they take what they have learned here into the greater world, sharing all that beauty, light, and grace with others.”
