Blessed Sacrament to be Reserved on New England Campus

“The afternoon of March 3 will mark a truly glorious moment in the early history of Thomas Aquinas College, New England,” says President Michael F. McLean. “The Blessed Sacrament will be reserved for the first time in the campus chapel.”

Having secured the approval of the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and extended the College’s accreditation to New England, officials are now busily preparing the Northfield, Massachusetts, campus for the arrival of students in the fall. Dr. Thomas J. Kaiser, who as associate dean is leading the initial group of faculty that will serve at Thomas Aquinas College, New England, is at this moment driving across the country with his wife, Paula. Renovations of the campus’ buildings have begun. And the Chapel is set to become home to Our Eucharistic Lord.

Tabernacle in the New England campus chapelThe March 3 event will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the first regularly scheduled Mass on the New England campus, offered by Rev. Thomas Kocik of the Diocese of Fall River, Massachusetts. Afterward, Fr. Kocik will repose the Blessed Sacrament in the chapel’s new tabernacle. From that moment forward, Our Lord will abide — Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity — on the new campus, guiding the College as it prepares to open its doors in August.

“All are welcome to come to the Mass and reservation ceremony, after which we will offer refreshments and a campus tour for those who would like to learn more about Thomas Aquinas College, New England,” says Dr. McLean. Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP online.

Beginning Saturday, March 9, the College will offer Mass every Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the New England chapel, followed by refreshments and a campus tour. “Please come any Saturday you like, and feel free to pass along this invitation to others,” adds Dr. McLean. “Those who would like to visit the campus or chapel during the week may do so by contacting the Admissions Office.”
