“I’m Really in Love” — Alumna Answers Call to Religious Life

The Fund for Vocations recently shared the delightful news that one of the students it has helped to enter religious life is none other than Mirjana Coccia, a member of the Thomas Aquinas College Class of 2014!

“When I prayed Vespers with the Community of the Beatitudes for the first time in 2017, I saw immediately that it was everything God had been teaching me to long for in college,” Miss Coccia reflects. “Religious life had not really been on my mind, but a few months later I quit my job to spend four months in the Beatitudes’ house at Emmaus in Israel; when I came back I knew the Lord was calling me to take concrete steps to discern consecrated life.”

For the next few years Miss Coccia worked to get her worldly affairs in order while regularly spending time at the Community’s  house in Denver. Last September she officially began one year of aspirancy and, God willing, she will start her postulancy next fall.

“To say that God used my time at TAC to prepare me to hear His call would be an understatement. My education has completely shaped how I relate to God and to the world,” Miss Coccia observes. “But more importantly, the hours and hours of conversation my friends and I would have about the role of community life and liturgy in our relationship with God gave me a deep and persistent desire for something I didn’t think existed.”

As she continues to discern God’s call, Miss Coccia is delighted at the prospect of becoming a bride of Christ, writing, “I’m really in love.”
