The Hulls
Dorianne (Drogin '11) and Matt Hull

“My husband, Matt, has always loved bringing people together through food and cooking, and we both share a passion for elegant tools and instruments,” notes Dorianne (Drogin ’11) Hull. “With the help of another alumnus, Liam Collins (’13), we founded St. Lawrence Grill Works to combine craftsmanship with community by producing grilling tools that will last — and enrich — a lifetime.”

The Hulls’ business makes heirloom-quality grilling tools, inspired by originals inherited from Mr. Hull’s grandfather and designed to last for decades. Each one is hand-forged in the USA and backed with a lifetime warranty. As their website aptly puts it, “They are rugged and made to be passed down, not tossed out.”

The company is named, or course, for St. Lawrence, who was famously martyred on a grill, and who joked with his tormentors by saying, “Turn me over. I’m done on this side!” The third-century deacon is “the patron saint of cooks, grilling and comedians … known for his sense of humor and love of the poor,” the Hulls’ website observes. “We aim to do him proud.”
