To celebrate the feast day of their patron, the women of St. Thérèse Hall welcomed Suzie Andres (’87), alumna author of several books about Catholicism, Jane Austen — and St. Thérèse of Lisieux. In her talk, “The Dumb Ox, the Little Flower, and the Rest of Us,” Mrs. Andres discussed how students can live the Little Way at Thomas Aquinas College.

Speaking to the women at their annual name-day fête, Mrs. Andres described her own relationship with the Little Flower. “Do not be afraid of God. He loves you so much,” she said. “I wish I could share with you how much He loves you. He adores you! When Thérèse talks about His mercy, she says ‘His justice, I love even more than His mercy, because He knows how pitiful we are, and made of dust.’”

Given that the women are students at the College, which is dedicated to St. Thérèse’s fellow Doctor of the Church, St. Thomas Aquinas, Mrs. Andres’ address also included reflections on how these two saints — seemingly so different upon first glance — work together to lead the faithful to sanctity.

“Mrs. Andres is incredible,” said Anna Rivera (’24) afterward. “She has such a clear love for the saints!”
