Two choirs from two of Southern California’s Christian colleges recently joined their voices on the campus of Thomas Aquinas College at the first-ever Gold Coast Christian College Fest.

The joint concert of the Westmont Choir, directed by Michael Shasberger, and the Thomas Aquinas College choir, directed by Daniel Grimm (’76), took place on October 27 in St. Cecilia Hall. The concert began with each choir separately performing several hymns, after which they came together on the Fritz B. Burns Auditorium stage. Mr. Grimm first led the joint choir in the singing of “Adoro Te Devote,” after which Mr. Shasberger directed “The Shepherd” by Karl Jenkins. (See video, above.)

Inspired, the group then sang “Adoro Te Devote” once more, this time from the choir loft of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Chapel, where, fittingly, Eucharistic Adoration was taking place. “There was such grace!” one observer remarked.

The two choirs and their directors hope to host more Gold Coast Christian College Fests, with additional schools and choirs involved, in the months and years to come.
