Paper tree in St. Joseph Commons

In preparation for last week’s Dia de Muertos dance, and then All Souls’ Day, sophomore Rachel Rivera and some fellow students erected the above banner in St. Joseph Commons. At its roots, the tree features the names of the College’s founders: Mr. Marcus R. Berquist, Mr. Peter L. DeLuca, Ronald P. McArthur, and Dr. John W. Neumayr:

On the tree’s branches and trunk are the nearly 2,000 names of all of the College’s alumni:

And blooming on the branches are flowers containing the names of all current students:

Then, finally, there is some fitting Sripture: “As for what was sown on good soil, this is he who hears the Word and understands it; he indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty” (Matt. 13:31-32):
