On March 23 the Thomas Aquinas College Washington, D.C., Board of Regents hosted an event with His Eminence Raymond Leo Burke at Top of the Town in Arlington, Virginia. More than 125 guests attended to hear Cardinal Burke, Patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, discuss the nature of Catholic education, using Pope St. John Paul II’s apostolic constitution Ex Corde Ecclesiae as his framework. His Eminence also spoke fondly of his experience with Thomas Aquinas College students and parents, as well as his 2010 and 2016 visits to the campus.

On hand for the occasion was Rev. Paul Scalia, Episcopal Vicar for Clergy in the Diocese of Arlington. The chaplain of the D.C. Board of Regents, Fr. Scalia opened the gathering with an invocation, and Cardinal Burke closed it with a blessing. Thomas Aquinas College President Michael F. McLean presented a slideshow of the College’s forthcoming New England campus  and took many questions from those in attendance. “It was a beautiful venue and a delightful evening,” says Vice President Paul J. O’Reilly. “The Regents did a great job putting on a wonderful event.”
