On Saturday evening, Resident Assistant Sarah Dufresne led a group of students to historic Grant Park Cross in Ventura for “Sunset at the Cross.” The purpose of the event, as Miss Dufresne put it, was “to simply find glory in God’s creation.” Students relaxed, socialized, and said evening prayer while watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean.

Grant Park Cross is 200-year old structure, dating back to the early days of California’s Christian history. Bl. Junipero Serra is believed to have raised it in 1782 to celebrate the establishment of his ninth and final mission in California, Mission San Buenaventura.

Bl. Junipero Serra, pray for us!
