Progress is still under way — and work crews are hard at work — on the construction of the College’s next classroom building, St. Gladys Hall. “Grading and foundations are complete, as are most of the site utilities,” reports Vice President for Finance and Administration Peter L. DeLuca “The building and the arcade have been framed, and much of the ‘shear panel’ is in place. Rough plumbing, electrical, and HVAC are well begun.” Noting that the project is “about 40 percent complete,” Mr. DeLuca expects construction to be mostly finished in time for Commencement, with the building ready for occupancy in July.

St. Gladys Hall sits on the south side of the academic quadrangle, adjacent to St. Bernardine of Siena Library and perpendicular to Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Chapel. The new building — the thirteenth constructed since the College acquired its campus in the 1970s — will house eight classrooms designed to facilitate the small, seminar discussions that are at the heart of the College’s unique academic program. Construction of St. Gladys Hall is made possible through a $3.2 million grant from the Fritz B. Burns Foundation of Los Angeles.
