On Saturday evening the men of Thomas Aquinas College, New England, put their cooking and table-service skills to work on behalf of the campus’ women.

About a week earlier, the women received in their mailboxes surprise invitations to an event dubbed “The Rose Dinner.” The men were rather tight-lipped about the details, but on Saturday afternoon they took over the dining commons and the kitchen to prepare an exquisite feast.

That night, as each lady entered Gould Hall, she was greeted with a rose and accompanied to the dining area, where the women were seated and waited on for a three-course meal. Dinner began with a puréed carrot soup, then moved on to pan-seared pork loin with haricots verts and whipped potatoes, followed by a dessert of chocolate mousse topped with raspberries and fresh whipped cream.

Complete with table garnishes, a toast, and singing, the dinner was enjoyed by all. Afterward the festivities moved to the next room, where students danced well into the night.
