Over Columbus Day Weekend, Head Chaplain Rev. Paul Raftery, O.P., and College Counselor Greg Wood led a group of some 30 Thomas Aquinas College students on a backpacking trip to Topatopa Bluff (alt. 6,367 ft.) in the Los Padres National Forest, adjacent to the California campus:

At the bluff the group was joined by Tutor Emerita Dr. Carol Day, who — having made the trip via a four-wheel drive truck — brought extra supplies of water, thereby allowing the hikers to make the climb with lighter packs. In the morning, students built an altar out of stones, and Fr. Paul offered Mass amid the spectacular views.
