Last Saturday afternoon, a group of Dominican novices — including two alumni, Br. John Winkowitsch (’04) and Br. Athanasius Thompson (’12) — made a vocations visit to Thomas Aquinas College. The group, members of the Order’s Western Province, visited with the Colleges Dominican chaplain, Rev. Paul Raftery, O.P, at his on-campus residence.

“The College is one of the regular stops for our novices as they learn about the apostolates in our province,” says Fr. Paul. “A number of us Dominicans on the West Coast are college chaplains, so the novices look forward to coming here and seeing this great campus, and also having a look at this particular ministry. Then, while here, I take advantage of their visit to have them speak to students about the Dominican Order and talk about their own vocational discernment. Their stories really resonate with the students, who are eager to hear how God works in a person’s life and leads them to their proper calling.”
