“Every time we have hosted an event on our New England campus, it has been overwhelming to see how many people turn out,” says Thomas Aquinas College Admissions Director Jon Daly. “Sunday was no exception. It was wonderful to see how enthusiastic people are to welcome Thomas Aquinas College to the region.”

Nearly 300 prospective students, parents, teachers, and friends came to the Open House, which drew guests from throughout the Northeast. The event was the latest in a series of gatherings as the College plans to open the doors to the New England campus — the beautiful, century-old former site of a preparatory school in Northfield, Massachusetts — at the start of the 2019-2020 academic year.

The day began with Mass in the New England chapel, offered by Rev. Michael Casey, vocations director for the Archdiocese of Hartford. Afterward the group moved to Olivia Music Hall for a panel Q&A led by the College’s president, Dr. Michael F. McLean. The panel offered a broad range of perspectives on Thomas Aquinas College: John Guinee spoke as the parent of three students, past and present; Emily (Barry ’11) Sullivan described her experience as an alumna; fellow graduate Shane O’Reilly  (’95) discussed the successes he has had hiring the College’s graduates; and two members of the New England faculty, Associate Dean Dr. Tomas J. Kaiser and Dr. Stephen Shivone, spoke about the College’s unique program of Catholic liberal education.

Following the Q&A, the Admissions department offered tours of the campus, with stops at the dining commons, gymnasium, women’s residence hall, and classroom building. The event concluded with refreshments in Olivia Hall.

“The day came off beautifully,” says Mr. Daly. “It was a joy to welcome so many people to our new campus — and a hopeful sign of all the good that is still to come.”
