A Message to the Faculty and Staff from Dr. McArthur

Dear fellow faculty members, staff, and administrators,

It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that I will be unable to teach anymore at the College. My years here have been memorable in many ways, and among those experiences that stand out in my memory are the friendships I have made with so many of you along the way. I think of your innumerable kindnesses to me, of the significant ways you have helped me, and of the Christian spirit which has been so visible in all the things you have done. While this will no longer be, we can continue to pray for one another, and to pray that God will direct and bless the College as it continues on its way to educate those who apply their efforts to acquire the goods the College provides.

I have, over the years, had the privilege of teaching some of you and seeing you develop as tutors, in many cases far beyond my own capacity as an educator. This, to me, has always been a sign that God is with the school and He will not be subject to our own limitations in His desire to attain more perfectly the end of liberal education.

I have been convinced for many years now that the school we started has become better since it began. The commitment remains alive, and the tutors are, as a teaching faculty, beyond the scope of what we ever imagined. All it takes to keep the school wedded to its mission is to do the one same thing we have always done and to do it as best we can. The threats to the College will not come from the outside; if they come, they will come from a loss of nerve from the inside. This, given the current faculty and administration, will not happen.

May God bless each and every one of you, and your families as well, and may you continue to serve others in the way you have so kindly served me over the years.
