“The Trojan Horse in the City on a Hill: The Declaration of Independence and the Erosion of the Natural Law Tradition”

On November 8, the Hon. Diarmuid O’Scannlain spoke to the students of Thomas Aquinas College as part of the St. Vincent de Paul Lecture Series. A United States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit, Judge O’Scannlain discussed the role of the Natural Law in American jurisprudence and took questions from the students.

“Judge O’Scannlain is a very thoughtful man and deeply committed to principle,” said Vice President Paul J. O’Reilly in his introductory remarks. “We are very pleased that he accepted our invitation to come join us.” In response, Judge O’Scannlain remarked, “I wish to add my own commendation of the mission and example that Thomas Aquinas College is setting for all of Catholic higher education with its faithfulness to the Magisterium of the Church and its dedication to the liberal arts.”
