On the evening of December 4, the Thomas Fire — so called because of its proximity to the campus of Thomas Aquinas College — struck Ventura County, forcing an evacuation of the College’s students, the cancelation of exam week, and the loss of electrical service. Although the College suffered no serious damage, it nonetheless now faces extensive recovery costs, beginning with generators to re-open administrative offices and to make the campus habitable for students.
