In a new story promoting the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Fortnight for Freedom, the Cardinal Newman Society praises those “brave and faithful few” Catholic colleges and universities that remain “steadfast in leading students to Truth.” Among these institutions, which the Society calls “beacons of hope in a sea of ambivalence,” is Thomas Aquinas College:

“Thomas Aquinas College in California was a plaintiff in one of the U.S. Supreme Court cases recently remanded back to the court of appeals for resolution with guidance,” writes author Bob Laird. “President Michael McLean has always been vocal and steadfast in his support of the university’s mission and opposition to any laws, regulations, or rulings which suppress the free practice of the Catholic faith.”

The College is one of only 29 American institutions of higher learning to be included in the Cardinal Newman Society’s Guide to Choosing a Catholic College, which champions “excellence in Catholic identity and academics.”
