In the midst of finals week, Thomas Aquinas College’s New England campus took time to celebrate the December 12 feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The morning began before the sun rose, with an Extraordinary Form High Mass in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Chapel, offered by Rev. Carlos Viego. Before Mass began, graduate Sara Preciado (’22) led a few students in singing mañanitas, Mexican songs dedicated to Our Lady. A shrine was set up at the front of the Chapel, featuring the miraculous image on St. Juan Diego’s tilma surrounded by fresh pink and white roses. “It was a beautiful morning,” said Megan Conrad (’24). “When I was walking to the Chapel, the sky was clear, and the air was crisp. It was a beautiful celebration of Our Lady.”

Mass was followed by a short reception in Gould Hall, where attendees enjoyed sweets and baked goods prepared by students the day before. Later on, after their theology exam, students prayed the Rosary in the Chapel followed by Adoration of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.

All in all, the whole day was a lovely commemoration of the patroness of the Americas. Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us!
