Even though COVID-19 restrictions preclude Thomas Aquinas College from welcoming visitors to its California and New England campuses, the Admissions Office is still offering live, guided tours to prospective students and their families — albeit virtually.

“We have put together about 15 minutes of in-depth footage of each campus — both from drones and cameras on the ground — to give virtual tours in roughly the same way we tour the grounds in-person,” says Admissions Director Jon Daly.Although the images are recorded, the tours themselves are “live,” led by a member of the Admissions Office.

“Our counselors personally guide these tours through the grounds, classroom buildings, chapels, libraries, and residence halls, describing their use and role in our program of Catholic liberal education,” says Mr. Daly. “They also answer any questions that arise about the College in that conversational setting. It really has turned out to be a wonderful way to interact with prospective students and their parents.”

Meanwhile, Admissions officers are busily preparing for a rush of in-person visitors as soon as social-distancing measures are lessened.

“We look forward to welcoming guests back on our campuses as soon as we can, but we also understand that families are trying to make college plans now, which is why we’re offering the virtual tours,” says Mr. Daly. “We’re pleased with the way they have turned out, and we think they will be a great help to prospective students.”
