Statement of President Thomas E. Dillon on the Death of Pope John Paul II

All of us associated with Thomas Aquinas College mourn the passing of our Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, who, in the midst of great turmoil in the world and challenges from within the Church, stood fast, teaching and expounding upon the perennial truths of the Catholic faith. We have been edified by his courageous efforts to help bring about a culture of life, and by his example of prayerful perseverance even in the midst of great suffering. Engaged as we are in the work of Catholic higher education, we are particularly grateful to him for emphasizing throughout his pontificate the importance of opening the minds of the young to Christ who is the Truth.

We pray for the happy repose of the soul of this great pontiff, who traveled far and wide to bring the light and love of Christ to the world, appealing always to our higher nature. May he rest in peace.
