On Saturday, November 22, Thomas Aquinas College’s Orange County Board of Regents hosted a seminar and reception for friends of the College, both new and old, at the Christ Cathedral in Garden Grove, California. Some 50 participants, including alumni, parents of current students, and other guests, met in the Cathedral’s Cultural Center to discuss the day’s theme, “The Wisdom of Genesis.”

To accommodate the large number of attendees, the group broke into two sections, both of which examined the first three chapters of Genesis and St. Augustine’s Commentary on Creation. Leading the discussions were the College’s president, Dr. Michael F. McLean, and its vice president, Dr. Paul J. O’Reilly, who have collectively spent more than 50 years guiding seminars at the College, where all classes are conducted via the Discussion Method. Saturday’s conversation focused on the biblical account of the origin and order of the natural world, as well as the meanings and implications of that account.

“It was wonderful to contemplate the mysteries of Creation, and to consider what Genesis tells us about the God Who made us and Who loves us,” says Director of Development Robert Bagdazian. “We are grateful to Christ Cathedral for providing us with such a fine setting for our seminar, and we are grateful to the Orange County Board of Regents for hosting a truly fruitful and engaging event. We hope to do this again soon!”
