The College’s top intramural basketball teams met on Saturday night for the championship round of the spring 2014 season. First up was the women’s game between squads captained by Susanna Kolbeck (’16) and Stephanie Sebastian (’14). While the fans cheered and students Anthony Maza (’15) and Michael Coglianese (’16) announced the game from the sidelines, the teams battled up and down the court. Team Sebastian narrowly won by a score of 21-18.

As soon as the women’s teams left the court, the men’s teams entered. After a few minutes of warm-up, the game between Team Martin McCann (’16) and Team George Mohun (’14) began. At the end of the two 15-minute halves, the teams were tied at 41-41, forcing the game into overtime. Team McCann quickly jumped out to the lead in the extra session, but Ben Schmitt (’17) evened up the game with a three-point shot with less than a minute to go. It looked like the contest would go into double overtime, but Patrick McCann (’17), brother of team captain Martin, scored in the final few seconds to give Team McCann the victory, 49-47.
